Tchaikovsky is fun to both play and listen to. I once had a (community) orrecstha conductor tell us that Tchaikovsky's marriage and life was falling apart so he waded into the ocean, preparing to die. I don't remember what stopped him but the next thing he wrote was his fourth symphony. We were to play it as if we were standing in the ocean deciding not to die. Now that's raising the stakes.I love Tana French's books. Be sure to read The Faithful Place, it is possibly the tightest one of the three.
