THE 11th ANNUAL
“BRAZILIAN CARNAVAL EXOTICA”
featuring an All Star band & non-stop Brazilian music & dance at
CLUB NOKIA
SATURDAY, March 5, 2011 • 8:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.
The authentic, annual LA tradition of Brazilian Carnaval erupts on Saturday March 5, 2011 at Club Nokia/LA Live, transforming the multi-level dance floor into a true Brazilian party in Downtown LA. This BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT offers its LA audience the once a year opportunity to indulge their senses and lose themselves in a pulsating sea of samba, Afro-Brazilian contagious rhythms, sequins, masks and feathers. Brazilian food and drinks are served to fully round out the evening.
Costumes are encouraged!
Catch the Carnaval sensation and mingle, misbehave, shimmy and dive in to the contagious beats of an All Star band curated by Chalo Eduardo (performed with Sergio Mendes, Santana, Mickey Hart, Ricky Martin) featuring top notch musicians playing classic Carnaval hits all night long.
The largest and most extravagant Carnaval on the West Coast, Brazilian Nites Carnaval has consistently sold out, drawing a crowd of 3000+ for the past 10 years. This music and dance spectacle is an authentic demonstration of Carnaval dance, costuming, parading, live Brazilian dance music, drink, food and drawing for a free trip to Brazil courtesy of Korean Air.
Enter the Sambodrome and surrender to the Brazilian beats of Samba, Capoeira, and participatory Carnaval Parade dances! Heating up the dance floor will be the Brazilian Nites Samba Dancers, directed and choreographed by Joany Macias, hypnotizing with their sensual and elaborate samba steps in feather and sequin micro costumes and Capoeira, the acrobatic martial arts dance. PLUS sessions of en masse dance floor choreography, caipirinhas, Brazilian arts and crafts, Havaianas, and giveaway souvenirs of Mardi Gras beads, tambourines and shakers.
